Duxbury

Duxbury Beach (also known as Blakeman's) is one of the finest barrier beaches along the Atlantic Coast. With six miles of sand and beach grass, Duxbury Beach is an unspoiled, natural recreational area. The beach is made up of two different areas – Outside Beach for sunbathing, walking, and swimming, and Inside Beach where you can enjoy a boat launch and great birdwatching. Enjoy the view as you walk along the Powder Point Bridge.

Powder Point Bridge, Duxbury's landmark bridge, was once the longest and oldest wooden bridge on the east coast (rebuilding in 1980 took away the title), and is a half-mile-long all wooden bridge that leads to Duxbury Beach.

Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy the shallow flats- and sightfishing available in Duxbury Bay. Head out at low tide, pull your kayak or jonboat out to one of the many flats, and wade into the shallows. When the tide drops, the bay's sandbars become interlaced with channels that average a foot or two deep. Filled with baitfish, the channels soon follow with striped bass. You will also find Bluefish, Weakfish, and Tautog. Duxbury Bay is an exciting and rewarding place to fish, just be alert to rising tides when fishing these flats.

Kiteboarders and Windsurfers who are confident in their ability to handle rough water and large breaking waves will do well on the waters of Duxbury Bay. Here enthusiasts will find steep chop allowing for a wide range of transitions, jibes, aerials, and tricks, and enjoy the surf break on the beach. There are many rewards to be found here on Duxbury Bay.
