About Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill is a 19th-century downtown Boston residential neighborhood situated directly north of the Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden. It has a rich community life, with neighbors knowing neighbors. Approximately one-half mile square, Beacon Hill is bounded by Beacon Street, Bowdoin Street, Cambridge Street and Storrow Drive. Its architecture, mostly brick row houses, includes the Federal, Greek Revival and Victorian periods, and is known for its gorgeous doors, brass door knockers, decorative iron work, brick sidewalks, gas lights, window boxes, and hidden gardens. The neighborhood’s main street, Charles Street, is filled with antique shops and neighborhood services. The Massachusetts State House is at the top of the Hill overlooking Boston Common.

About Boston
Boston, first incorporated as a town in 1630, and as a city in 1822, is one of America’s oldest cities, with a rich economic and social history. What started as a homesteading community eventually evolved into a center for social and political change. Boston has since become the economic and cultural hub of New England. As the region’s hub, Boston is home to over 645,000 residents, numerous institutions of higher education, some of the world’s best inpatient hospitals, and numerous cultural and professional sports organizations.

If you are selling your home a fresh coat of paint on the walls makes your house look clean, bright, and inviting and is a fairly quick and easy way to update your home. As a home buyer you may be itching to make your new space your own by adding your own color choices and perhaps a few upgrades. Either way, as any do-it yourselfer can attest, the best of intentions can go sometimes awry with results that produce disappointment rather than accomplishment… the wall color looked so much softer on the sample, the tile does nothing to create the ambiance you envisioned, the trim color that you were sure would accent the walls nicely, now dominates them… the amount of planning and worry that goes into completing a project without a professional can at times be overwhelming, but now there’s an app for that! Here are a few of the mobile applications available to help you with your next DIY project.

Sherwin Williams and Behr offer a mobile application that allows you to virtually upload a picture of your room and touch and tap to paint it. You can explore different colors and find suggestions for complimentary colors that will help guide you to a having a room that is worthy of the cover of a home magazine.

Shaw Flooring and Mannington Floors offer a similar concept for the floors in your home. Again with an uploaded photo of your own room, you can try different shades of wood, tile, and carpeting to help you decide if you’re going to love it before you buy.

Armstrong and GE have interactive design tools for kitchens that allows users to change cabinets, countertops and appliances in 4 different design styles – from casual to contemporary.

Design applications are not limited to just your interior spaces either. Ply Gem and Tapco Group have virtual remodeling apps that enable you to experiment with colors and designs, add windows, doors, and other exterior elements.

With the help of these useful mobile applications, do-it-yourselfers can be more confident that they have made the best decision for each job they plan to tackle!

Contact Robb Cohen, I understand that all clients, both sellers and buyers, have individual needs and all of my programs are custom-designed and built around assisting my clients to realize them.

Known as the Irish Capital of America, Boston owes it’s deeply rooted Celtic heritage to the thousands of Irish immigrants who came to the city fleeing the midst of the Irish Potato Famine. Here, St. Patrick’s Day is so revered that events leading up to March 17th’s mega-celebration are spread out over the course of a full week making it a great time to take in the sights of the city, and enjoy a bit of traditional Irish cheer and music. The festivities include the famous Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade on Sunday, March 18.

The parade will kick off at 1:00 pm at the Broadway T station. The parade route is three miles long and spans throughout South Boston, proceeding down West Broadway to East Broadway to East 4th, to 5th Street, and around Thomas Park, then along Telegraph St. to Dorchester St. and finally ending in the famous Andrew Square, with the best opportunities for viewing the parade anywhere along Broadway. This year’s marchers include local bands as well as marching bands, pipe bands and dancers from throughout North America. The parade – known as the Southie’s Wearin’ of the Green – promises to provide fun and entertainment for the whole family, as it has every year since 1901. Kiss the Blarney Stone, Grab a pint and kick up your heels at the Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade!

About Boston
Boston, first incorporated as a town in 1630, and as a city in 1822, is one of America’s oldest cities, with a rich economic and social history. What started as a homesteading community eventually evolved into a center for social and political change. Boston has since become the economic and cultural hub of New England. As the region’s hub, Boston is home to numerous institutions of higher education, some of the world’s best inpatient hospitals, and numerous cultural and professional sports organizations.
